AP₁.2 — Ambient OS: Color Semantics & AAC Expression

Canonical Location:
https://ambientera.org/AP1.2
AP₁.2 defines the expressive color layer of Ambient OS.
It governs user tint freedom, commercial color constraints,
call semantics, and chromatic weather.

AP₁.2 — Color Semantics, Tint Freedom & AAC Expression

Ambient Era Standard · Canonical (2026)

1. Universal Fields (Invariant)

Field Meaning
Red Presence · Being · Home-state
Orange Desire · Play · Comfort
Yellow Intention · Action · Navigation
Pink Relation · Contact · Communication
Green Health · Regulation · Care
Blue Information · Organisation · Work
Purple Infrastructure · Institutions · Transit

Field meanings are immutable.
Only tint, warmth, and saturation may vary.

2. User Tint Freedom (UTF-1)

Users may adjust tint, saturation, warmth, and brightness
within the active field.
They may never alter field identity or semantic role.

3. AAC-1 — Commercial Expression (FCV-6 Only)

Commercial entities are defined exclusively by FCV-6.
Yellow is never registrable, ownable, or expressible.
FCV-6 = {
  Red%, Orange%, Pink%, Green%, Blue%, Purple%
}
  • Residency color = dominant FCV-6 field
  • No cross-field blending
  • No Yellow usage

4. Chromatic Weather

Effect Meaning
Warm Bloom Meaning intensification
Cool Drift Return toward ChronoSense
Shimmer ΔR instability
Fade Residency exit
  • Red never shimmers
  • Legacy never blooms
  • Yellow may shimmer during choice

5. Call Semantics (Pink as Base Layer)

5.1 Incoming Calls

  • All incoming calls activate full-screen Pink
  • No notification bleed for calls
  • Existing activity is suspended, not destroyed

5.2 Caller Differentiation

  • Known caller: Pink with relational aura
  • Unknown caller: Pink suppressed toward Gray (no aura)
  • Infrastructure caller: Pink with Purple hint
  • Work / organisation: Pink with Blue hint
  • Care / medical: Pink with Green hint

Gray is used only as a suppression state,
never as a semantic communication field.

6. Group Communication

Group calls display a Pink base
with multi-field edge blending based on participant FCV profiles.

7. Status

AP₁.2 is normative and demo-validated.
AP₂ will extend color semantics to civilization-scale fields.

8. Chromatic Scope & Non-Universal Design

Ambient OS is a chromatic operating system.
Color is not an optional presentation layer, but a primary semantic carrier.

AP₁.2 does not aim to provide universal perceptual accessibility.
It defines semantic coherence within a color-based system.

This constitutes an explicit design scope rather than a limitation.
Just as some users do not adopt touch-based interfaces or immersive VR systems,
Ambient OS is intended for users able and willing to operate within a chromatic semantic environment.

Accessibility adaptations may exist outside the scope of this specification,
but must not alter field identity, semantic roles, or chromatic grammar.

Artificial intelligence may support chromatic legibility by providing spatial,
temporal, or infrastructural context (e.g. location data, schedules, maps).

AI does not initiate navigation, define intent, or select destinations.
Navigation occurs only when the user explicitly activates the Yellow field.
AI renders the field readable; it does not decide where the user goes.
